Infrastructure & Project Finance plus PPP with Modelling
Overview
- Project Finance and Public Private Partnerships (PPP) are now well-established methods for financing and delivering large public infrastructure projects. There is growing intterest in Africa for PPP as a way of financing large-scale projects and this will require knowledgeable professionals to understand the financial models typically used for such projects.
- Using a hands-on, step-by-step approach, this course is designed to provide bankers and finance professionals with the understanding of project finance and the techniques to assess the financial attractiveness of PP projects
About the Faculty
Course Objectives

This intensive four-day course is divided into two complementary areas
- Part I: Overview of PPP Universe (Day 1 - 2)
-
The goals are to gain an understanding of the objectives of PPP deals, the different stakeholders and their relationships, and how PPP differs from conventional project finance.
- Part 2: Translating PPP Projects into a Financial Model (Day 3 - 4)
- This part of the course will begin with the key techniques of financial and business mdeling in Excel for project appraisal. We will then focus on the challenges of PPP projects from each of the key stakeholders' perspectives, and enable you to effectively apply these techniques to assess and determine lending needs
- it also involves extensive use of Excel. Participants will gain the maximum benefit if they are already familiar with spreadsheets and can navigate confidently in Excel, creating and using basic formulas.
- The course will include practical exercises to apply the principles learned and provide an opportunity for practice and discussion.
